What motivated you to choose technical recruiting as your professional career?

Madhushree: My passion has always been about creating an impact in people’s lives and helping them fulfill their career aspirations and dreams. Similarly, I have always found technology very fascinating.

The way technology has helped India grow and put us as leaders in the global arena is truly mind-boggling. It, therefore, came as a natural calling for me to help talented individuals grow in the technology space which will help our country grow further.

What is it that excites you about tech recruiting?

Madhushree: Technology is dynamic and constantly evolving. It challenges you to keep pace with it thereby making you a constant learner and helping you to keep on upgrading yourself. It gives me an opportunity to speak to the smartest of individuals who will help define the growth of the organization.

The satisfaction of scouting the right talent who will build innovative products for extraordinary organizations is immense and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

What has been your biggest challenge in tech recruitment?

Madhushree: The fun of tech recruitment is about engaging and attracting the right set of talent for your organization. With the IT industry booming, opportunities are everywhere, especially with the skewed supply chain.

Each company is striving to get the best tech talent resulting in a direct salary war. The growing demand is also making candidates succumb to last-minute counter offers thereby leading to lower conversion ratios. Continuously overcoming these obstacles without impacting the recruitment target has been one of the biggest challenges for me.

What do you think is the future of tech recruitment and what state-of-art problems do you think needs to be solved?

Madhushree: AI-enabled hiring and chatbots in recruitment to help in prescreening or targeting the right set of candidates are few of the many solutions that are cropping up. These solutions will keep on getting refined and evolving over a period. These will act as brilliant support functions to tech recruiters.

Changes in the technology will make a huge impact on the way we hire especially in automating standardized processes as well as intelligently shortlisting and engaging candidates based on the right target candidate persona.

If you had to share, “words of wisdom,” with a tech recruiter who’s about to start their journey in tech recruitment, what would they be?

Madhushree: It does not matter whether you are starting fresh or are experienced in tech hiring, my suggestion is to enjoy your work and have pride in the fact that you are making a great impact on both the company that you recruit for and the candidates that you hire.

Your capability to build and grow your network will help you identify and associate with the talent across all geographies.
