Thank you so much for joining us!

What motivated you to choose technical recruiting as your professional career?

Arun: I never thought to choose recruitment as a professional career. In 2012, my friend was discussing an opportunity where you can make more incentives than your salary, that is how I landed in the recruitment profession, but later I fell in love with this job.

Helping someone achieve their dream job or helping a client hire the perfect person to grow their business, recruiters have a huge impact on people’s lives. I still get the same buzz of excitement placing someone in a job now as I did 10 years ago when I began my recruitment career.

What is it that excites you about tech recruiting?

Arun: Technology itself excites me, because of technology we were able to discover a vaccine for covid-19 in less than a year, and I believe hiring the right candidate for the company helps in developing a great product that impacts millions of human lives directly or indirectly.

What has been your biggest challenge in tech recruitment?

Arun: Covid has accelerated the demand for tech. Due to the pandemic everything, right from schools to offices, everything shifted online, leading to the rising demand for digitization, which has led to demand for tech talent.

Post covid tech roles are not limited to just IT firms, every sector needs an IT department. The recruiter needs to find the right talent while considering the organization’s goals, parallelly recruiters face the challenge of retaining old employees and upskilling them.

What do you think is the future of tech recruitment and what state-of-art problems do you think needs to be solved?

Arun: Conventional recruiting has extensively changed since the workplace went virtual, and face-to-face interactions are no longer an essential part of the process. Organizations will continue to streamline and update their practices. New demand for skills, tech talent shortage and the rise of hybrid work culture are the key areas that companies should focus on.

If you had to share, “words of wisdom,” with a tech recruiter who’s about to start their journey in tech recruitment, what would they be?

Arun: Get a deep understanding of the job description and do not go with keywords. Understand candidate profiles by reading their profile summary and the roles they played. Never judge just by going through the resume. Have a phone call with the candidate before deciding. The secret to successful hiring is this; look for the people who want to change this world. Network with various candidates and join different groups on LinkedIn.
